Tired

Life’s not long better listen to your song

There’s some screaming going on, but I wont holler. I’m much too tired.

Who the devil am I to think that I’d be better off

With two silver dollars in my eyes?

The pressure in my head by the empty bed

Means that I’m on fire, but I’m still tired.

She said she was going out for an hour,

But the rest of our life was decided in just a few short days.

As I lay there still nailed to my cross

Its 4:38 on this ticking clock and you’re still nowhere to be found.

I called ten times with no result.

I tossed and turned at the thought of fault and

I stare at the ceiling waiting for the sound.

Of That ringing phone you’re not coming home

And all I hear is tick tock tick tock.

You said you were going out for an hour

But the rest of our life was decided in just a few short days.

When she finally got home one look in her eyes,

Well that’s the look I didn’t recognize. Something had changed.

She sat on the stairs staring at the wall.

How could you do this you didn’t call and she sat there with a smile .

Well she stood up hands on her hips

And said I don’t feel anything when I kiss your lips

And that’s not a place I want to stay.

I said how did this happen, nothing’s changed?

I’m still the same man I was yesterday!

And she said,”That’s what I mean!”

She said she was going out for an hour.

She said she had kind of lost her way.

I had choked the life out of her no longer,

So she finally realized she had to go away.

Life’s not long better listen to your song.

There’s some screaming going on but I wont holler.

I’m much too tired…
